Hello you. How fun is this? Our first little blog post. After the tragedy, unbreakable became a mantra in my life. It helped me on my darkest days. Whenever I thought about the word unbreakable, like really thought about it, I imagined the color yellow and people surrounding one another. Random, right? It felt warm, it felt like a lot of light. I wasn't sure what that meant, but I told myself I would keep following that thought. It hit me one day that I wanted to help others find what makes them unbreakable too. I wanted to create a community where we could come together and share our stories, because we all deserve for them to be heard.

We recently just launched a new sweatshirt for the holiday season and this one means a lot to me. It says "enough" on the front--one of my favorite reminders. It was the first word that came to my mind when reflecting on what others needed to hear. We all need that reminder sometimes... that we are enough. Throughout this year, I am sure you have felt a hardship once or twice and I hope you know that you are enough and what you are doing is enough.

The word enough has another important meaning in my life. I have been fighting gun violence prevention and using my voice for those who can’t. I have had enough of innocent people losing their lives to gun violence and believe that we need real change. The word enough reminds me of my students who have fought tirelessly for a change, who have had enough. The color orange has become a defining color of gun violence prevention and I knew that I wanted it somewhere on this sweatshirt.

These are just a few things that I think of when I read the word enough. I think it has a different meaning to everyone and I hope that when you wear this, you can embrace that in any way that feels right for you. To me, this is so much more than a piece of clothing, it is a reminder that I wear proudly and I am so happy that you have the opportunity to do so too.

I really am so grateful that you are here. This is a community, a family, and a safe space. Know that being unbreakable doesn't mean we always have to be strong--we are human. We break. We bend. We shatter. Just know that when you are ready, you can always pick those pieces back up again and embrace what it means to feel unbreakable.

Love you so.
